One of the most important things you need is a house that you can use to store loot and rest up. The easiest way to get this is to enter a good house and to kill the owner. Just watch out for gaurds and other residents. On the plugins page you will find a plugin that modifies a house in Balmora so It has a good seller in it.
If you summon a daedric Item, and you want to keep it, all you do is summon it, de-equip it, drop it on the ground, and wait for the time to run up. When it does, *poof*, you have a daedric weapon to keep.
Don't stick to the roads, sure, they'll get you where you want to go easily, but most of the adventures, side quests, and dungeons are off of the beaten path.
